We are very happy and lucky to have Pepa Palazon in Vienna. We are sharing our forces with Tango Pop Up (Sylvia & Bernd) and organizing this special weekend together from 28th to 30th of June. 

There are 2 milongas, 5 musicality workshops and an unforgettable weekend waiting for you.

If you don’t know Pepa yet, don’t miss the opportunity to meet her in person. She had a huge impact on the modern tango, working and seeing herself as an ambassador for tango and its culture. Read more about her below.*

🥭 FRIDAY, 28th of June – @Galería Ideal, Geibelgasse 14, 1150 Wien

7:00 – 8:30 p.m. – Workshop #1: Rhythmic base and melodic line in traditional tango orchestras

• Rhythm and Melody
• Marcato 4 and Marcato 2 (of the dancers)
• Pulse
• Phrases
• Melodical rest I

You will study about the music of:
Angel D’AGOSTINO, Juan D’ARIENZO and Carlos DI SARLI of the ’50s
**No need to come as a couple but it is better.

03:00 – 4:30 p.m. – Workshop #2: Arrastre and síncopas

• How to recognize and apply the use of 4 and 1 (in the beat) and Syncopation in dance. Introduction to Osvaldo Pugliese
• Stop Time

You will study about the music of:
Osvaldo PUGLIESE and Francisco CANARO

**No need to come as a couple but it is better.

5:00 – 6:30 p.m. – Workshop #3: „STOP time“ in the rhythmic base

• Stop Times in the different Tango Orchestras
• How to recognize them and how to dance them

You will study about the music of:
Miguel Caló, Biaggi, Tanturi and Juans D´ARIENZO

**No partner needed.

• Rhythmic and melodic combinations  (with drums)

🥭 ABOUT Pepa

Pepa Palazón, has been organizing one of the most popular milongas in Buenos Aires for 12 years called “Viva la Pepa! Milonga”. Additionally, Pepa has been dancing tango for 19 years and she has been teaching regularly in Buenos Aires and worldwide for 11 years, giving classes for all levels.

She is a graduate of the Superior Conservatory of Buenos Aires music (Tango and Folklore). She specializes in teaching music to dancers.

At the same time, she makes a tv program dedicated to recovering the Living History of Tango Dance, called “Tengo una pregunta para vos” (I have a question for you) that you can watch for free on her youtube channel.

🥭 PEPA´s MUSICALITY CLASSES
Her musicality classes are 100% practical (so it’s not only musicality in theory but you will dance a lot!) and no partner is needed. You will work on the verticality of the music, (?) from dance: You are going to study the different musical lines that are heard at the same time in some tangos. If you can hear them, you can choose which line to dance and how to dance it.

You will be able to separate those lines and dance them on concrete musical examples, the main rhythmic and melodic elements that we find in the Traditional Tango Orchestras.
