La Queerencia — the new queer milonga at Tango Mango

Tango Mango is launching La Queerencia — a new monthly queer milonga and a space to explore tango beyond fixed roles and expectations.

The name is a wordplay of queer and the Spanish la querencia — a word often used in literature to describe a place where you feel safe, at home, and truly yourself.

That is what we hope La Queerencia can become: a space where you feel safe to be yourself, play with different ways to tango, and discover what feels right for you on the dance floor.

For the very first edition of La Queerencia, we’re delighted to welcome TDJ Mačka from Bratislava, who will be setting the mood for the night.

Before the milonga, at 18:30, we’ll have a taster class for anyone who’d like to try tango for the first time, or simply explore dancing in a different role. We’ll focus on changing roles and exploring how tango feels from different sides of the embrace.

No previous experience or registration is required, and the milonga is included in the price.

A milonga for different possibilities

To make La Queerencia as accessible as possible, we’re introducing a self-assessed contribution: choose €5, €10, or €15, depending on what feels manageable for you right now.

€10 is our suggested contribution, while choosing €15 helps us keep the €5 option available for those who need it. The same contribution system applies to the taster class.

There’s no need to explain or justify your choice — just choose what works for you.

La Queerencia is first and foremost a space for queer people. At the same time, we warmly welcome anyone who is curious about queer tango and can help us create a respectful and inclusive space.
